In the name of God amen I Thomas Mylrea of Ballakilley in the parish of Lonan, farmer, being of sound mind and memory at the making hereof do make and ordain this my last will and testament and demise and dispose of all my worldly estate in the following manner and form:
Firstly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne Mylrea the sum of twenty pounds sterling to be levied and paid out of my real estate.
I give and bequeath to my son-in-law Thomas Kermode the sum of twenty pounds to be levied and paid out of my real estate.
I give and bequeath to each of my four grandchildren being the issue of my deceased daughter Ellen by her husband James Lace of Foxdale, miner, the sum of five pounds sterling to be levied and paid out of my real estate.
I give and bequeath to my son-on-law John Corkhill now of Douglas the sum of twenty pounds sterling to be levied and paid out of my real estate.
I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law Anne Jane Mylrea relict of my son Thomas Mylrea deceased the yearly sum of four pounds sterling to be levied and paid out of my real estate each and every year for the term of her natural life or so long as she shall remain unmarried and I expressly declare and ordain that this annuity and bequest shall utterly cease, lapse and determine if at any time hereafter the said Anne Jane Mylrea shall marry again and that such marriage shall cancel and nullify all claims on this annuity. I do furthermore appoint and ordain that the amount of a Promissory Note for the sum of forty pounds sterling which was passed by me to, and held by, my said daughter-in-law Anne Jane Mylrea shall be levied and paid out of my real estate it being my meaning and intention that the said sum of forty pounds which I acknowledge to have received from, and for which I am justly indebted, to the aforesaid Anne Jane Mylrea do stand as lien and lawful charge upon my real estate in the same manner as if secured thereon by Deed of Mortgage.
I also give and bequeath to my son-in-law John Kermeen the sum of twenty pounds sterling to be levied and paid out of my real estate.
I give and bequeath to my son William Mylrea all and singular the whole of my real estate and those lands and premises commonly called and known by the name of Ballakilley situate in the parish of Lonan including …. all my real estate wherever situate, lands, houses, messuages and tenements together with all rights, and privileges thereunto appertaining and belonging subject nevertheless to the legacies, bequests and annuities hereinbefore named, written and bequeathed by me as chargeable thereon and my will and intention is that each and every legacy herein particularized by me be first paid and satisfied out of all of my said real estate within one year and a day from and after my decease .
I also give and bequeath to all lawful claimants not herein named and defined the sum of one shilling.
Lastly I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my son-in-law John Kermeen aforesaid to be residuary legatee of all my personal estate of whatsoever description and kind, moneys and moveables, and everything of a personal quality. And I likewise appoint the said John Kermeen sole executor of this my last will and testament and I hereby revoke, make void, and utterly disallow all and every former testaments, wills, legacies, bequests and executors by me in anywise beforenamed, willed, bequeathed and appointed and I do hereby pronounce, declare and confirm this and no other to be my last will and testament. Signed and declared by the said Thomas Mylrea to be his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribing witneses who have also affixed our names hereunto in his presence and of eachother. (The word “eight” in the twentieth line of the first page being first erased and word “four” substituted therefore above it in the nineteenth space of the first page being interlined) also the redundant word “and” on the eleventh line of the second page being first erased. At a Chapter Court held at Douglas on the 25 day of May 1881 Diocese of Sodor & Man} Edward Gelling and John Wallace the subscribing witnesses to the execution of the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Thomas Mylrea late of Ballakilley in the parish of Lonan, deceased, who died on or about the 12th day of February 1881 having made oath on the Holy Evangelist that the testator Thomas Mylrea when of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding duly signed and acknowledged the same as and for his last will and testament in their presence and that they at the same time in the presence of the testator at his request and in the presence of eachother and ... and then subscribed their names as attending witnesses thereto.
John Kermeen a son-in-law of the testator and executor of the said will named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfill and … the said will and to administer all and singular the personal estate and effects of the testator according to law by paying the just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses of the deceased, and the legacies contained in the said will so far forth as the goods and effects will extend and the law bind him and to return unto the Episcopal Registry of this Isle and of the Diocese of Sodor & Mann a full, true and perfect inventory of the same with an accurate account of the administration when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges namely Robert Crojean of Ballayg and Edward Gelling of Baldrine who have entered into and executed the usual Bond in the presence of this Court.

- Thomas snr was born in Douglas in 1804, the son of William Mylrea & Elizabeth Clague
- Two aunts and an uncle (Clagues) sold/gave him land in Lonan, on which Thomas snr and his family lived, about 30 acres in total. This area reduced to 24 acres some time between 1861 & 1871
- Thomas snr married Ann Killey in 1833 in Lonan, and they had eight children on record
- Anne (1833) married John Kinrade 1883 (perhaps a mariner)
- Elizabeth (1835) married Thomas Kermode, a mason
- Isabella (1837) migrated to NZ in 1862 when she was 25 years of age, married Peter John Calder
- Elleanor (1839) married James Lace, miner, 1862
- Jane (1842) married John Corkill. This family migrated to the UK
- Thomas (1843) married Ann Jane Cubbon, 1875
- William (1845) married Emily Helena Corlett, 1873
- Margaret (1849) married John Kermeen, miner 1870
- Son Thomas jnr died in 1879
- Wife Anne Killey died in 1880
- Thomas snr died in 1881
- Younger son, William, inherited Ballakilley, but lived with his family at Croit-e-Quill, in Sunhill Cottage. He was a miner at the time of his marriage and variously described during his lifetime as an engine driver & general laborer. He was listed in Brown's Directory 1894 as "owner of part of Ballakilley" but never in census collections as a farmer

- There might have been a genetic problem in this Mylrea line because there were no discernable living siblings of Thomas snr, although records of several dead ones; Thomas Mylrea jnr and wife Ann Jane Cubbon had no children in their short marriage and Thomas jnr died at the age of 35. On the other hand, it might have been a Clague endowment with Isabella, John & Catharine having no living children, and their sister Elizabeth (the mother of Thomas snr) having about 8 children, most of whom died
- Whatever Thomas's ancesry, his line ended with the death of his son, William, in 1924
- The MI for Thomas snr and his wife reads: In memory of Thomas Mylrea of BallaKilley, Lonan, who died February 11, 1881, aged 76 years. Also Anne, wife of the above, who died June 22, 1880, aged 74 years
- In 1904, William and his surviving sisters (Jane & Isabella) successfully sued for the estate of their sister, Ann Kinrade
